When it comes to installing two optical drives, is there a preferred slave/master choice?
Question by powhound: When it comes to installing two optical drives, is there a preferred slave/master choice?
DVD multi and CD-RW/DVD-ROM.
Does it matter if one is slave, the other master? My thinking is that it makes no difference which is which.
Thanks for your input.

If I’m not mistaken,
Solid-state = slow write, fast read
Hard Drive = fast write, slow read
?
It’s for a laptop (MacBook Pro).
Does it make any difference?

A little extra safety couldn’t hurt. A lightening strike, if close enough, will fry a surge protector and may also jump past it as surge protectors are not designed to handle that much of an overload.

Actually it is a fan that is mounted over the processor to the motherboard. They give you the fan to ensure proper cooling for the chip. Without the fan, the chip get very hot and will go bad quickly.
Some motherboards and cases offer temperature alarms if the CPU overheats.

Oh yeah, you betcha.
For video editing or complex 3D manipulations working in programs like AutoCad, Maya, Blender and 3D Studio Max etc. the Core i7 smokes Phenom II like a cheap cigar. Of course it’s also much more expensive.

Yes, that is exactly what bridging does. It allows multiple routers to transmit the same wireless network. To do this you have to place the routers into bridge mode. Do this by entering their settings. If they support it, the settings will be in there.
Fun Fact: The city of Anaheim has a massive Wi-Fi network consisting of hundreds of bridged routers. It covers the entire city.

When it comes to LCD Projectors, should you leave them on or turn them off to preserve bulb life?
Question by Anthony: When it comes to LCD Projectors, should you leave them on or turn them off to preserve bulb life?
I work for an elementary school district as a computer tech. We’ve recently installed LCD projectors into every classroom. A teacher asked me a pretty good question…
She uses her LCD projector daily and wanted to know the best way to preserve the life of the projector/bulb….is leaving it on all day (roughly a 7 hour school day) or periodically turning it off (like for recesses/lunch) better for the projector/bulb?
My initial thought is to turn the projector off whenever it’s not going to be used for an extended period of time, but is it more damaging to have the projector cycle (heat up and cool down) 3 times in a 7 hour period or is it more damaging leaving it on (and staying hot) for the entire 7 hours?

Turn it on to start the day, turn it off when you’re done for the day.
’nuff said.
